My name is Dawnshaeé Reid and I am self-proclaimed eclectic (if we don’t identify ourselves, society has a bad habit of doing it for us). I graduated from the University of Kentucky in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. My fondness for the world and its’ people has been brewing inside me since the beginning of time. I believe that the world that we create for ourselves inadvertently effects everyone, so I decided to make it a priority to be of service and bring some sort of light in each room that I grace with my presence.
You’re probably wondering, “why is your blog titled Intro to Eclecticism?” Let’s take a look at the definition of eclecticism - the practice of deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources. This definition encompasses who I am to my core and reminds me of the importance of navigating through life with an open mind. By seeking out inspiration in every village, and under every rock, I am able to expand my understanding and carry the gift of exposure wherever I go.
This blog is designed to release the things that I am exposed to from my own perspective and introduce you to the world of eclecticism. I aspire to use my talents to not only be an avid writer but to be an inspiration to all people, most specifically Black girls and women, around the world.
I hope you find it in your heart to read along through my blogging journey, but also interact by joining Eclectix the Book Club and subscribing to my newsletter for updates.
With Love,
Your Favorite Eclectic
